Speak Out for Youth Employment

Time is running out for our nation's youth.  In a last ditch effort to secure funding for summer and year-round youth employment, the National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC) - a member of the Campaign for Youth steering committee - is coordinating a "Speak Out for Youth Employment" Day of Action on Tuesday, May 11. To let lawmakers know how important it is that they take action on the Disaster Relief and Summer Jobs Act of 2010 (H.R. 4899), NYEC asks that you contact your Senator by letter, fax, phone call, or a visit to your Senator's office.

By following this link and typing in your zip code, you will have an access to a preformatted letter which you can modify and email to your Senator(s) without any additional work.  A sample letter you may use can be found here.

This is our last big effort in 2010 to gain some small victory in federal funding for summer and year round youth employment.  We will continue to advocate for more comprehensive investments in the long-term, but we are quickly running out of time, and any investment at this point will help continue much of the great work began under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009.
